2350 Last Call: The Neo Story - July 27 - Metro Chicago
src: metrochicago.com

Last callback , automatic withdrawal , or (on PBX and center service) camp-on , is a telecommunication feature offered by the phone service provider to customers to provide customers with phone numbers, and sometimes time, from the last caller. The service can also offer the facility to make calls to the calling party.

The general public tends to refer to services with phone feature codes, phone numbers in their country; for example, in North America this is 69 , whereas in the UK it is called 1471 .

The amount for this facility varies with country and provider:

  • United States and Canada: Vertical service code * 69; 1169 on a rotary phone/pulse dial. The fast voice behind most of the AT & amp; T of this feature is Pat Fleet. If available, it is offered on a per-call fee (usually 50Ã, Â ¢) or a monthly subscription for limited use for a few dollars.
  • Australia: * 10 # for Telstra service or * 69 on Optus HFC Telephony network. This only allows one to return the last missed call, and can cost 35 cents per usage.
  • French: 3131
  • Israel: * 42
  • Japan: 1361 to get the number, 1363 for call back.
  • United Kingdom: 1471 (also used in Gibraltar, Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Falkland Islands)

In the UK, after calling 1471, the caller can press "3" to automatically reply to a call. Previously free, since August 2004 callback services incur costs.

Service providers may also offer facilities that enable calling parties to prevent their numbers from being disclosed to parties called, either on a permanent or per-call basis. This is accomplished by starting a number called by:

  • Australia: 1831 on home phone, or # 31 # from phone
  • United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle of Man, and Channel Island: 141 on landline and # 31 # on mobile
  • United States: * 67
  • Sweden: # 31 #

Instead, to send the caller's number on the line where the number is usually kept secret, the following prefix can be reached:

  • Australia: 1832
  • Ireland: 142
  • United Kingdom: 1470 (also used in Gibraltar and Channel Islands)
  • United States: * 82
  • Philippines * 999

In Gibraltar and earlier in Ireland, ex-directories or unregistered numbers are retained by default.

In Germany, most contemporary phones have a dedicated key that functions as a call return, which is an internal function of the phone itself (the last caller number is stored in the phone during the last call) and thus has no numeric code.

In Canada, this feature is generally marketed by phone companies as a combination of two features:

  • Call again , automatic ringer returns, allows caller, while reaching busy signal, to hang up, call special code, and recall automatically when dialed no longer busy, usually with a 30 minute limit.
  • Call back allows customers to call the code that identifies the last incoming call. In some types of headquarters equipment, it announces the number and offers call-back options; in others, it's just trying to connect without an announcement.
