Google Surveys (formerly Google Consumer Surveys ) are business products by Google that facilitate tailored market research. This product is designed by Google as an alternative to pay for internet wall for websites that publish content. This program was launched by several online publishers such as Pandora, AdWeek, and New York Daily News .

History

This product was launched on March 29, 2012.

On February 19, 2015, Google announced the Consumer Survey as a platform for publishers to monetize their online content. Initially, this platform will be available only to publishers from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Publisher payments are made through the AdSense payment system, but the platform has its own management and reporting console.

On October 19, 2016, Google announced that it had changed the product name from Google Consumer Surveys to Google Surveys and moved it to part of the Google Analytics product suite.

Reception

Use of the popular Google Surveys include voter information tools and holiday travelers' behavior surveys. Google Survey issues voter polls leading to the 2012 US presidential election. According to blogger and statistician Nate Silver, Google's polling polls Survey are ranked second in terms of reliability and lack of bias in predicting election results.

The Pew Research Center has conducted a series of tests to evaluate Google Surveys in consultation with Google. In November 2012, Pew published an independent results analysis to the point that it states in part that "the comparison of some demographic questions asked by Pew Research suggests that a sample Google Consumer Survey appears to fit closely the demographic composition of the overall internet population".

Google Surveys have been compared to SurveyMonkey (which also offers a survey-making interface as well as how to buy audiences), where it is praised for its low cost per response, but lacks the flexibility in designing surveys.

Google has also reviewed Google Surveys in a white paper, concluding that "Google Consumer Surveys can be used instead of traditional Internet-based panels without sacrificing accuracy" while also stating that "[s] no Google Consumer Surveys allow only one question or filter out the two surveys -question, analysis of relationships between survey questions is difficult or sometimes even impossible ".
