Google Express , formerly Google Shopping Express , is Google's shopping service available in some parts of the United States that was launched in free trials across the San Francisco Peninsula. Initially it was the same day service. This was then extended to the same day and overnight delivery. Initially the price equals in-person shopping, but then increases to the point where the price is usually US $ 4- $ 10 more per item; Google Express Help says, "Since the price of an item is determined by the store, sometimes you'll see a price on Google Express that is different from what you see in the store: it depends on the merchant and the location of your merchandise coming from."

The service was first announced in March 2013, from San Francisco as far south as San Jose. Retailers include a mix of national and local stores. It was launched publicly on September 25, 2013, with some additional retailers but still limited to San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Apps for Android and Apple smartphones are announced on the same day; using this allows customers to use their loyalty account. In May 2014, the service expanded to New York City and West Los Angeles, and in October 2014 services were added in Chicago, Boston, and Washington, DC, as well as additional retailers.

At launch, Google waives the subscription fee for testers and for the first six months after signing up; it costs a little below that for Amazon Prime. Amazon, which also tests delivery on the same day in selected markets, is a major competitor. Delivery begins with a Prius sedan in Google Express livery, approximately 50 cars by August 2013, when the service is available in 88 ZIP codes. The fleet was then expanded to include Ford Transit vans, and the company announced it would use bicycles and foot delivery in some areas. Delivery is subcontracted to the courier service, initially 1-800-Courier, and then also OnTrac. In the testing phase, retailers are not charged, or pay only a nominal fee. Customers pay $ 5 per stop and receive delivery within three to five hours. The customer must have a Google Pay account.

This service displays a merchandise pickup map and delivery location, and trying to use the closest available outlet, does not always work.

In October 2017, trading partners included Walmart, Target Corporation, Costco, and Fry's Electronics.
