Since 2015 there has been a trend towards the deployment and planning of large wind farms, both onshore and offshore, with an estimated wind power capacity tripled from the 2015 level by 2023. The first, 429 MW Noordoostpolder wind power plant is already partially deployed on end of 2015 while 600 MW offshore Gemini offshore wind farms are expected to be commissioned by 2017. These newer and larger wind farms utilize some of the largest wind turbines available, especially in the case of the Noordoostpolder Enercon E-126 7500 kW wind turbine, turbines the largest land available at the time. The Netherlands is also well prepared for a significant increase in the intermittent power production of wind energy with good links with its neighbors through high voltage cables that allow power to be imported or exported as needed. This includes 580 km of NorNed (700 MW) submarine cables to Norway, BritNed's 1,000 MW cable connection to the United Kingdom and the planned COBRA 2019 cable connection to Denmark (700 MW).

Target masa depan

The Dutch government has set a target of 6,000 MW of terrestrial wind power by 2020 and 4,450 MW of offshore wind power by 2023. This will contribute to the Netherlands target of 14% renewable energy usage of total energy use in 2020 and 16% by 2023.

For high winds, a new tender system is under development. The placement of new wind farms is based on the SER agreement that explains the plans for a five year tender of 700 MW per year. Under this system, the government selects locations and organizes tenders for 350 MW projects, and project developers can offer bids for each farm. These sites are also surveyed centrally by the government that allows developers to avoid costly and multiply surveys.

Manufacturers of turbines and rempowering

Many small scale wind farms exist throughout the Netherlands that bear testimony to previous models of wind turbines and lesser known manufacturers that provide a variety of niche products, ranging in size and power output. There are several Dutch turbine manufacturers who continue to produce both large and small installations for domestic and international clients. Small turbines are often used for off grid, bespoke and international community strength.

Some of the larger new wind farms currently under construction replace smaller turbines previously installed in certain locations. One example is the largest wind farm in the Netherlands, Noordoostpolder, which incorporates industrial-scale wind turbines such as the new Enercon ground wind turbine, the world's largest ground turbine rated at 7500 kW. Turbines have 135 m heating hubs and each new turbine can generate as many as 50 turbines from a combination of old windmills. Wind farms show growth in wind power scales between 1987 and 1991 are the largest of its kind in Europe with 50 turbines and a total capacity of 15 MW. The new Zuidwester site in the wind farm will have only 12 turbines and a total capacity of 90 MW. Used markets for turbines also exist, which can grow because older turbines are being replaced by newer ones.

Development timeline

2018

In March 2018, the Dutch government announced it would build between 2023 and 2030 some new windfarms that would produce a total of 7 gigawatts of energy. Where the park will come and how they will be built is still being discussed. However, the government wants 40% of the total energy used in 2030 in the Netherlands to be powered by windfarms.

2016

In the first week of December 2016, all 150 turbines of the new 600 MW Gemini offshore wind start to generate power, and the project is expected to be fully commissioned by mid-2017. In July 2016, the first two phases of offshore wind farm development for a capacity of 700 MegaWatt combined in the waters near Borssele were awarded to DONG Energy for 7.27 Euro cents per kilowatt hour for 15 years. 1.4 eurocent/kWh transmission cost will be added as TenneT is required to take power from sea to coast. In December 2013, 1,975 wind turbines operate onshore in the Netherlands, with an overall capacity of 2,479 MW. Additional 228 MW capacity installed at sea.

2011

In November 2011, the Dutch government decided to no longer fund EUR6 billion per year to maintain the kWh of subsidized wind at EUR0.18. It cuts sharp subsidies up to EUR1.5 billion, leaving the private sector to transport wind turbine investment if this is profitable. [6]

Offshore wind power

While there are more land-based wind farms in the Netherlands, much of the land agriculture in 2015 consists of a large number of small wind farms, including many single installation turbines as well as farms between 1-10 turbines. Detailed maps and information on wind farms in the Netherlands can be found from wind maps and lists of these wind farms. In total there are 3,004 MW of offshore wind power by the end of 2015. Most of the wind power is generated in Flevoland province. Some of the larger wind farms are listed here.

Noordoostpolder

The largest wind farm planned in the Netherlands is the newly commissioned and partially deployed Noordoostpolder wind farm. By the end of 2015, agricultural land has a capacity of 201 MW which is connected to the electricity grid and in full deployment, this figure will increase to 429 MW. This farm consists of three small wind farms owned by separate organizations with local community networks. 86 wind farm wind turbines will produce 1.4 billion kWh of electricity, enough. electricity to more than 400,000 households daily, a figure that is roughly equivalent to the number of households in the North Holland.

Westereems

The next largest land-based wind farm is the Westereems wind farm located at Eemshaven in Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands.

Princess Alexia

In contrast to terrestrial farming, almost all turbines in January 2017 are located only on several large wind farms.

Luchterduinen

Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm officially opened in September 2015 and is a 50/50 joint venture between Eneco Netherlands energy company and Japan's Mitsubishi company. Wind Enkin Luchterduinen 129 MW is located 23 km from the coast between Zandvoort and Noordwijk town in the Netherlands. This farm consists of 43 Vestas V112 turbines each of 3 MW capacity. Furthermore, the installed capacity of 228 MW will be added when completed.

Princess Amalia
