WoW TCG is a collection card game based on MMORPG Blizzard Entertainment, World of Warcraft . The game was announced by Upper Deck Entertainment on August 18, 2005 and was released on October 25, 2006. Players can fight each other, or can join others to defeat the dungeon/raid bosses based on the MMORPG. In March 2010, Upper Deck Entertainment lost license from Blizzard Entertainment. On March 24, 2010 Cryptozoic Entertainment announced the acquisition of game licenses and card sets that are planned to be released.

On August 23, 2013, Blizzard Entertainment announced that TCG will be discontinued, and that they will not renew the game license. In March 2014, Blizzard released Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, an online collection card game featuring many of the same characters, abilities, and artwork.

Detail permainan

Each player uses a hero and deck card consisting of allies and other support cards, such as weapons, abilities, armor, goods and quests. Many cards include a feature icon , which limits what heroes can include cards on their deck. Some reinforcement packages also contain legendary spiders, or loot cards (ie special versions of regular cards) containing scratch codes. This code can then be redeemed in the online game for virtual rewards. Prizes include special tabards, gimmick items, non-combat pets, and mounts.

During play, players start with one hero. Once per turn, players can play any card from their hands as a resource, allowing extra card payments to add a hero's strength or adding additional members to his party. Once played by paying the appropriate fees, all cards (except the ability) remain there until destroyed or removed from the game. As in games like Magic: The Gathering , the goal is to reduce the remaining health of the opponent's hero to zero. Unlike Magic , combat attacks are always directed at individual heroes or allies, rather than simply declaring attacks with a number of creatures. Furthermore, damage done to characters accumulates between turns, making battles more costly for both attackers and defenders.

Card type

The following card types are displayed in the game:

  • Hero - The characters played by the given player. Every hero has an initial health number, faction affiliation, race, class, specialization, and profession. The hero character determines what other cards can be included in the deck (for example, Horde heroes can only have Horde allies). Finally, each hero has a unique power that can be used once per game, after which the hero card is turned off. Starting with Worldbreaker , the Hero card no longer has a profession.
  • Master Hero - Master Hero Card, when played, replace player hero with new card. The original hero is removed from the game and the damage, abilities, equipment, tokens or attachments present in the heroes were previously taken to the Main Hero. Master Heroes, unless otherwise specified, can use all the tools and capabilities, but the capabilities on cards looking for a certain type can not be activated. Powers initially on the hero did not proceed to the Master Hero.
  • Abilities - Cards that cause some direct impact to the game. Ability can be [Basic type], can only be played during someone's turn, or it could be [Instant], can be played anytime.
  • Ally - Individuals and other friends who helped and fought on behalf of the main hero. Most allies are affiliated with the Horde or the Alliance; cards affiliated with factions opposed to heroes are not allowed on the deck. A neutral ally can be included in the deck of one of the factions. The Allies can attack an opposing hero or an ally, but can also be attacked.
  • Armor - A defensive card that protects the hero from damage. By paying the right resource cost, armor can be depleted each turn to reduce the damage handled by the player's hero. Players are limited in how many different pieces of armor they may complete on any given "body part" (for example, only one armor layer at a time).
  • Weapon - Offensive cards that can increase the melee's ability or reach of a hero. Like armor cards, players are limited to how many weapons they may have at once. To use a weapon card to increase attack power during a battle, players must pay the cost of resources (Strike Fees) associated with the weapon. Weapons can be used when attacking or defending, but usually only one weapon can be used for each battle.
  • Item - The hero's gear can have other than weapons and armor. Rings, potions, and knick-knacks are examples of items.
  • Search - Special cards acting as source cards, but with additional capabilities. Quest can be completed by meeting the conditions described on the card. When this is complete, prizes will be earned (e.g., Drawing additional cards) and the mission is usually closed in reverse.
  • Locations - Location cards are similar to search cards, but are not face down to use their capabilities. Only one location can be controlled at once, even if the location has a different name.
  • Loot - Loot cards are special card versions that can be used in card games (for example as normal allies), but also contain scratch codes. This code can be entered into a website for online games, which will provide unique in-game items.

Products

Twenty one sets of expansions (and a reprint set) were released for WoW TCG . Cards are usually sold in reinforcement packages , containing 15 random cards - 10 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 rare or epic, and 1 hero card or loot card. Booster packages also have one UDE points card that can be redeemed online. Beginning with March of the Legion and ending with Twilight of the Dragons , the booster package contains 18 random cards due to more variations of card type: 2 extra commons and 1 extra uncommon. Color collector number printed on the card shows its scarcity, using a system similar to online games: white for public, green for public, blue for rare, purple for epic, and orange for the legendary.

Several sets were also released with Starter Decks, containing a pre-construction deck consisting of 33 fixed cards built around one of 9 classes, 2 reinforcement packages, 3 cards of great heroes and a rule book. These decks contain 1 rare, 6 uncommons, and the rest are commons. The beginner's deck is released for Heroes of Azeroth , Via the Dark Portal , March of the Legion , and Drum War . The Deck and Champion Deck classes are another type of Starter Decks. The Battle Deck is a PvP variation of the Starter Deck which contains two pre-built decks consisting of 44 fixed cards, 3 cards of great heroes and 8 exclusive allies.

Raid Decks

In addition to the standard 2-player game game, this game also features Raid Decks , representing a struggle involving a large number of players against an epic enemy. Raid Decks is a specially designed pre-construction product used for cooperative experience. They combine elements of World of Warcraft (team based questing), and Dungeons & amp; Dragons (Raid Master). One player, Raid Master controls all monsters and enemies, while another 3-5 players control the characters that participate in the attack.

A Raid Deck usually contains an epic boss card, a deck for a boss character, a token to represent a waiter, a special rule for raids, and a treasure package, meant as a reward for the player who wins the attack. The treasure package contains holofoils and sometimes contains a random insertion of a booty card. Upper Deck Entertainment also makes a treasure package available from their UDE points store, although the cards in this package are not holofoil.

Eight Raid Deck released:

  • Onyxia's Lair (December 2006) - Displays the black dragon Onyxia.
  • Molten Core (May 2007) - Includes ten epic bosses, from Lucifron to Ragnaros the Firelord.

  • Naxxramas (December 2009) - An undead corpse, Lich Kel'Thuzad's seat.
  • Attack on Icecrown Citadel (March 2011) - Displays the Lich King itself, with another boss emerging as an ally on the deck. Also includes 3 decks built around the famous heroes Lady Jaina Proudmoore, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner and Highlord Tirion Fordring.
  • Aspect Battle (August 2012) - The last confrontation with Deathwing, The damaged Earth Aspect.
  • The Caverns of Time (April 2013) - Accept iconic villains such as Archimonde the Defiler, Queen Azshara and Murozond, Infinite Dragonflight leaders.

Dungeon Decks

Similar to Raid Decks, Dungeon Decks are large-scale meetings designed to be played by multiple players. The main difference from Raid Decks is that Dungeon Deck runs itself without requiring additional players to act as Raid Master. In addition the Dungeon Decks are designed to be played against the basic starter deck with players opening the ability to add new cards by gaining experience from beating basements and leveling up.
