Revamp
For anyone watching, I've worked on fixing the portal. I have re-done the layout to be inspired by Material Design; I've expanded the list of selected images, re-done outlines, and updated all outdated content. I have removed the Wikinews list, because news related to Google is rare and all but one story is from 2012 and earlier. WikiProject Portal has returned!
The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17, 2018. The goal is to revitalize the entire portal system, build buildings and maintain the portals more easily, support the enhancement of portals and editors dedicated to this, and design future portals.
On May 2, 2018, membership was in 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.
There is a design initiative to revitalize the entire portal system, and to improve every component of the portal. So far, two new dynamic components have been developed: Template: Transclude lead excerpt and Template: Transclude random excerpt.
Tools are provided to build and maintain portals, including auto portals that update themselves in various ways.
And, if you're bored and want something to fill your mind, we have an outstanding task list .
