The Goo Goo Dolls (originally Sex Maggot) is an American rock band formed in 1985 in Buffalo, New York, by guitarist/vocalist Johnny Rzeznik, bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer George Tutuska. Mike Malinin was the band's drummer from December 1994 to December 27, 2013 (but did not become an official member until 1998). Greatest hits albums (2007-2008)
On November 13, 2007, Goo Goo Dolls released their biggest hits album, Greatest Hits Volume One: The Singles, which included a new version of "Name" recorded and mixed by Paul David Hager, and a remix of "Feel the Silence "by Michael Brauer. On December 27, 2013, Malinin announced his departure from the band via Twitter and Facebook.

Five sets of vinyl disc boxes featured their first five studio albums, including their first album, Goo Goo Dolls on vinyl for the first time since 1987, Hold Me Up for the first time on vinyl domestically, Superstar Car Wash and Jed for the first time ever at vinyl and A Boy Named Goo. There are only 1,000 copies of the pressed box set.
Should you Be Happy EP, tour, 20th Anniversary Dizzy Up the Girl (2017-present)
On May 12, 2017, Goo Goo Dolls released an EP with five songs, titled You Should Be Happy , featuring 4 original songs and a mixture of back titles, "Boxes," from their last album. To support the EP, the band toured throughout the summer of 2017 on a "Long-A-Travel" tour with Phillip Phillips. This tour included a show in their hometown, Buffalo, on 12 August. Philanthropy
The Goo Goo Dolls have been closely involved with several charities over the years. Through the USA Harvest organization, millions of food has been distributed to people in need by generous fans who carry non-perishable items to band concerts for more than a decade. Scholarship fund created by band for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in honor of Nicholas Orrange, nephew of John Rzeznik. This is a high school with higher academic requirements. The purpose of this scholarship is to help people who bring value but can not afford to pay for school, which is considered one of the best college preparatory programs in the West New York area.
Over the years, Goo Goo Dolls is also involved with Food Bank of Western NY and Compass House. The band also volunteered their time to perform at events for ECHO, Light of Day, among others.
